Homeopathy is
  •  a safe, effective system of medicine, used by millions of people worldwide for over 200 years
  •  works with the body, not against it.
  •  uses very small amounts of plant, animal and mineral substances
  •  stimulates the body’s built-in ability to heal
  •  is based on the observation that “like cures like”--any substance that can cause illness can also cause cure

Homeopathic Remedies

  •  are prepared from natural sources and are used in extremely small amounts.
  •  are recognized as drugs by the US Food and Drug Administration.
  •  are non-toxic and can be safely used for pregnant women, infants, children and adults.
  •  are given one at a time
  •  are chosen to match the individual’s specific and personal symptoms
  •  are chosen to match the totality of systems for the whole body and mind
  •  are made using mineral, plant and animal sources.
  •  use no animal testing in developing homeopathic remedies
  •  homeopathic remedies are tested, or proved, using healthy humans who can articulate precisely how the substance affects them.

Homeopathy

  •  comes from two Greek words, “homeo”, meaning similar and “pathos”, meaning suffering
  •  looks at the person’s total health picture rather than isolated symptoms and works to heal the whole person
  •  works to strengthen a body’s general vitality
  •  does not diagnose or treat diseases
  •  strives to improve one’s emotional well-being
  •  can treat acute and chronic illnesses
  •  can clear emotional and physical traumas
  •  can improve memory, concentration and clarity of thought
  •  gently moves one from illness or dis-ease to freedom, flexibility and resilience in health
  •  can work to clear generational/inherited health issues (research shows it takes 3 generations to clear most problems)
  •  can relieve pain and its causes
  •  can palliate the pain and suffering of terminal illnesses
  •  can work to heal the body even when taking prescribed allopathic medications

Principles of Homeopathy

  1. The Law of Similars-- “like cures like” --homeopathy matches the symptoms of a person being treated to the symptoms produced in healthy humans.
  2. The minimum Dose-- homeopathy seeks to heal using the least amount of remedy needed to bring about healing change, to improve health.
  3. Totality of Symptoms--homeopathy matches the complete symptom picture of a patient to the symptom profile of the remedy.
  4. The single remedy-- Classical homeopaths administer just one remedy at a time to stimulate health and healing.

History

It all began in Germany 200 years ago, when Dr. Samuel Hahnemann ( 1755 -1843), a physician, chemist and linguist, found conventional medical practices [ using leeches, purging, cupping, heavy metals] of the time to be ineffectual and harmful. He discovered homeopathy, using diluted and succussed substances, as a method to help patients without side effects.

Homeopathy has enjoyed a wide popularity in many countries and continents among millions of people worldwide. Looking for safe and effective treatment for illnesses that needs no drugs or surgery, those treated with homeopathy find their health improved and their freedom and flexibility maximized.

There are no known or suspected contraindications or drug interactions between homeopathic and conventional medicines.

Most homeopathic medicines are available over the counter.

Consumers can learn to treat acute, self-limiting conditions safely at home, but serious conditions should be treated by a professional. Treating a cold or flu is considered acute care and can be done alone by a consumer or in consultation with their homeopath. More complicated issues, those that consider more than one health issue, need the assistance of a homeopath in constitutional care.

Many veterinarians and animal caretakers get good results using homeopathic medicines for animals.

Homeopathy treats the whole person--physical, mental, emotional--and treats each person individually. For example, a homeopath treating a cold sufferer does not presume that all colds are alike, but instead asks about the person’s unique combination of symptoms: is the person chilly or flushed? Is the nose running or stuffed up? Did the cold come on after stress, anger or loss of sleep?
The homeopath tries to get a complete picture of the person’s individual experience of a cold. Then they choose a homeopathic medicine that best matches this person’s unique symptoms.
